crossbow Posted August 17, 2007 Posted August 17, 2007 My brother sent me a Petaluma Coonawarra 2002. What do you think? Store or drink?
Jimmy2 Posted August 17, 2007 Posted August 17, 2007 The beauty of Merlot is that it's a lovely wine to drink now - but does not require lengthy periods of storage to come of age. I won a 4 bottle lot 2 weeks ago of Chateau Palmer Margaux 1998 you must try this wine the best i have drank in the last year and i have drank some of the best wine out there thanks to my friend Tony .This was a sleeper and its priced right. hears a review that i found on that bottle that you have Crossbow enjoy: The Petaluma brand signifies class, quality and consistency. This wine delivers all three yet again. The 2002 Coonawarra may have been one of the cooler vintages but this red blend received the benefit of fully ripened grapes incorporated in this wine. Deep brooding crimson purple in colour emanating some ripe satsuma plum as well as classic rich blackberry aromas, with the berry fruit carrying through effortlessly through to the palate in a smooth silky manner. Just seamless in structure, the French oak has been very well integrated and imparts some sweetness but also characteristic cigar box characters. Drinks exceptionally well with a lingering finish. Cellar with confidence for about 10 years plus and have with roast beef. At around $50, value for such a top excellent wine.
crossbow Posted August 18, 2007 Author Posted August 18, 2007 Thanks Jimmy. I think the Petaluma goes back to the wine fridge untouched if I can age it for another 5 more years. Last night, I was at Chateau La Mer in Lindenhurst for a nice wedding(Southshore, Long Island) and I noticed that they were serving Sansone Montepulciano d Abruzzo. One thing worth mentioning about that place was the excellent Chateaubriand. I had two more Sansones with it. The wine, I know is, not expensive but it really tasted good with the medium-rare steak. The food selection at that place is excellent!! No cigar that day, I was with co-workers. Wish I could say more about the coffee. Sad thing was, several of us had gotten tickets for parking in the dock. Stupid me was trying to save and avoid the rush by not using the valet. » The beauty of Merlot is that it's a lovely wine to drink now - but does not » require lengthy periods of storage to come of age. » » I won a 4 bottle lot 2 weeks ago of Chateau Palmer Margaux 1998 you must » try this wine the best i have drank in the last year and i have drank some » of the best wine out there thanks to my friend Tony .This was a sleeper and » its priced right. » » hears a review that i found on that bottle that you have Crossbow enjoy: » » The Petaluma brand signifies class, quality and consistency.
