anacostiakat Posted August 12, 2007 Posted August 12, 2007 Picked this one up on recommendation. With the cost at 13.99 USD I figured it was worth a shot. As it came out of the bottle and tumbled into my glass the lush deep ruby red impressed me. Even before the first taste I keep breathing in the wonderful smell coming out of the glass. I could not get enough of it. :-D Alas the first taste and subsequent ones as well gave me a very nice bodied black currant or berry and cherry. This bottle was blending with the '04 Don Alejandro I fired up just after pouring. The licorice and spicelike finish and the vegetal earthiness of the cigar working together wonderfully. Crap, I hope they have more of this stuff when I get back to my beverage store.
nugget Posted August 13, 2007 Posted August 13, 2007 » Picked this one up on recommendation. With the cost at 13.99 USD I figured I love the wine, picked up 2 doz of 2000 for about what you paid but AUD and it's great. Not sure what more current vintages are like but I'm sure good drinking.:-)
CelticBasque Posted August 13, 2007 Posted August 13, 2007 I've been searching for ANYTHING from D'Arenberg for a year or so now... Just bought a 2005 bottle of "The Stump Jump" Red last weekend and just now found the last two bottles of '04 TFS on my new wine site. Thanks for the hearty recommendation!! ;-)
skid11 Posted August 14, 2007 Posted August 14, 2007 If you like Cab Sauv............... Try the d"Arenberg "High Trellis" you won't be dissapointed. Generally d"A make wines that will cellar for years but I personally like the big raw tannins and alcohol of these wines so I drink em young.
