Ken Gargett Posted August 2, 2007 Posted August 2, 2007 a good mate wanted to put on a few wines from his cellar for a lunch so a few of us gathered to help. Jacques Selosse Signature champers Then three whites - he is big on 2002 burgs both red and whites. Three Montrachets from ‘02 - Bouchard (the pick by far) Jadot and Le Moine Then three 2002 Charmes Chambertins - Domaine Laurent Le Moine and Dugat Py (fantastic). Then a few clarets - Cheval Blanc 1998 Cheval Blanc 2000 (these two the only wines to create much division - had not seen the 98 before but thought it way superior. Crowd was split). Then a few odds and ends to finish up. JJ Prum Wehlener Sonnenuhr Gold Cap Auslese 2002 Yquem 2003 (both fantastic). To finish a simple little port, the Quinto do Noval Nacional 1985. Never tried a Nacional before. Probably says enough that everybody at the table of ten had this as the best wine of the day without question. i was happy to help.

Mikey Posted August 2, 2007 Posted August 2, 2007 Very nice lineup for a lunch. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the port was your favorite out of that field of stellar offerings. Ports are being reached for more and more nowadays at the humble abode:-D .
Claudius Posted August 2, 2007 Posted August 2, 2007 Not a fan of bourgundy, nor of the 2002 vintage, but Cheval Blanc 1998 and 2000 sound good. Not to drink though, to age. I have some Saglas Rabaud 1996... what would you recommend drinking it with?
