Ken Gargett Posted June 12, 2007 Posted June 12, 2007 australian salmon. how far up the east caost has anyone caught these? chatting to a chap on the rocks this morning and he reckons he gets them nearly as far north as pottsvilee. i've never seen them up here but he does use a very different style of hook/bait for them. anyone else fished for them up this far north and anyone who catches them down south, hwat sorrt of gear/rig/bait?
El Presidente Posted June 13, 2007 Posted June 13, 2007 Ken. They will take fly relatively easily (clousers). I have caught them in Yamba. I haven't seen any near Pottsville but have heard of them coming up as far as the Tweed.
Wolfe Tone Posted June 15, 2007 Posted June 15, 2007 Australian Salmon? I've never heard of such an animal. Are these a true anadromous salmonid, or a salt water fish, like a seatrout? If someone has a picture, I'd love to see one.
