query for east coast aussie fishermen

australian salmon. how far up the east caost has anyone caught these? chatting to a chap on the rocks this morning and he reckons he gets them nearly as far north as pottsvilee. i've never seen them up here but he does use a very different style of hook/bait for them.

anyone else fished for them up this far north and anyone who catches them down south, hwat sorrt of gear/rig/bait?

They will take fly relatively easily (clousers). I have caught them in Yamba. I haven't seen any near Pottsville but have heard of them coming up as far as the Tweed.

Australian Salmon? I've never heard of such an animal. Are these a true anadromous salmonid, or a salt water fish, like a seatrout? If someone has a picture, I'd love to see one.
