Colt45
Wait just a minuto! Sounds good - a small cigar I've yet to try.
Phailure
Rob, I'm glad you've had some good samples of shorts from '06. The box I have is probably the worst '06 that I have sampled thus far.
El Presidente
I have had some dud Shorts of late and so reached for a morning cigar on Monday to see if one could re-light my passion for these little buggers. I am reaching more and more for Trinidad Reyes, Ramon Allones Small Club Coronas and SC Principe for a high quality Perla. Lovely looking cigar. Good constructuon. Aroma at cold of simple toasted tobacco. Cerrated the cap to find a good draw and flavours of coffee grounds on the lips. Torched the foot. Big start, full bodied, Cayenne spice through the nose, dark beef jerky on the palate. Quickly balancing itself out, within a couple of minutes it was back to Medium bodied and a core of shortbread dunked in black coffee. I am witnessing one of the whitest ashes I can recall on a Habanos. While the draw is a touch easier than I prefer, it is not rampant and is not responsible for the whiteness of the ash. Learn something every day. Still medium bodied but nutshells on the palate along with the shortbread and coffee profile. Excellent morning coffee cigar. Just past the mid point it is becoming fuller in body, just a smidge over medium. Flavours evolving into more wet cereals....oats/malt. Chewy mouthfeel, becoming a little tarry. Not offensive. Becoming a little sour on the finish. Wet oats still there with a touch of damp firewood. Reflection of youth. Good spice still through the nose. This Partagas short delivered in terms of flavour which is a welcome return after a few lacklustre recent efforts. With another 12 months it should iron out some of its rough edges. I don't think it will take much more time than that. Good cigar now, should be very good approaching 2009. 88/100 4/6 smokerings.
