Cam Posted April 27, 2007 Posted April 27, 2007 Constantly at the moment, I've been exposed to 27 degrees, sunshine, no wind and no insects, 2 cigars a day and a free bottle of Remy 1946.. will post pictures of heaven on earth as soon as I can, Cam - Please don't panic, the situation isn't to serious..
Colt45 Posted April 27, 2007 Posted April 27, 2007 Cam, I'd thought you had already left for NZ. Weather sounds great. It had been nice here for a few days, but now is back to rain and cool temps. On a side note, do you have any thoughts on the 2000 Chateau Poujeaux (Moulis)?

jqmunro Posted April 27, 2007 Posted April 27, 2007 I'm taking 8 days in france in a couple of weeks... 4 in Bordeaux and 4 in Paris... should be a fantastic time if the weather stays nice.
Stalebread Posted April 28, 2007 Posted April 28, 2007 The weather here has been gorgeous for the last few days. Spring happened all at once. Reports are calling for rain over the next 8 or 10 days, though. When the weather first got really good, I kept seeing both men and women in shirt-sleeves and tee-shirts but with a winter scarf wrapped around their neck. Can't quite figure that one out.
jqmunro Posted April 29, 2007 Posted April 29, 2007 I was wondering about bordeaux... unfortunately I dont speak french... do enough people speak english that it won't be a problem?
Stalebread Posted April 29, 2007 Posted April 29, 2007 » I was wondering about bordeaux... unfortunately I dont speak french... do » enough people speak english that it won't be a problem? In Paris it is not a problem. Lots of people, especially young people, speak English. Not sure about Bordeaux, we haven't made it there yet. My guess is that that region gets plenty of visitors from different countries and English may very well be the common denominator. I was waiting in line to buy a train ticket once when an argument broke out ahead of me. A man who was speaking an Eastern European language and the ticket booth guy (French) were getting pretty loud. The ticket booth guy came out from his booth and he and the Eastern European guy were standing toe-to-toe, each shouting in his own language. There was a very slight pause and they both resumed shouting at the same time . . . in English. You have to at least try some French, though. My French is pretty much non-existant and generally people are helpful and patient. I think what pisses off the French is Americans who just assume that everyone speaks English and who make not even the smallest attempt to say at least, "Bonjour." "S'il vous plait." "Merci." "Au revoir." "Excuse-moi mais je ne parle pas Francais. Parlez-vous Anglais?" It's a beautuful country and Paris is a wonderful city. No doubt you'll have a great time even if you do trip over language a little.
