KB24 Posted April 12, 2007 Posted April 12, 2007 How many people use these in their humidors to circulate the air? I just got one to go along with the larger fan I have already in there and the Oust fan seems to blow very weak. So weak that I'm not sure it will even do anything. Thoughts??? -Patrick

I was under the impression that you don't want a lot of airflow, just enough to make sure the RH doesn't settle too heavily toward the bottom of the cabinet.

Ditto here - I use two of them (one in the bottome of the coolidor, one on the top) set to blow 5 minutes apart. As MT noted, I don't think you need a hurricane, just something to keep the air gently moving. I also think they're more effective than they seem. Used for what they were designed to do, an Oust fan can fill a pretty large room with air freshner, so they actually move quite a bit of air.
VigorishSLC Posted April 12, 2007 Posted April 12, 2007 I had one but quickly threw it away. It doesn't really move that much air...it's true they "fill" a room with scent, but I propose that has more to do with air currents in the room than anything. Once I wired my wine cooler with an a/c computer fan my rh iwas rock solid from top to bottom.
gyosa Posted April 12, 2007 Posted April 12, 2007 use a hack-saw or serrated knife to remove the plastic "grill" ..... this improved the airflow for me in my aristocrat . -bk
chef2275 Posted April 12, 2007 Posted April 12, 2007 i use them in the coolers, for it being a tight, closed space should work fine. But say in a aristocrat you may need more than one. But for your question they do work well in the coolers, have not put them in the humidor though.
Professor Twain Posted April 13, 2007 Posted April 13, 2007 I have used two Oust fans in my 30 bottle Haier fridge. I posted results from a humidity test that I conducted on the Board a while back--and found that even with using these fans I had a lot of humidity stratification (much higher humidity in the lower level). One solution I am using is to be sure to rotate my boxes occasionally so that boxes don't remain in the more humid bottom or drier top for extended periods. I intend to get a computer fan which is reputed to be more effective.
