Professor Twain Posted April 11, 2007 Posted April 11, 2007 [link]http://www.inlumino.com.au/inlumino1/Love%20in%20the%20Tropics.pdf[/link] [link]http://www.belvoir.com.au/[/link] This play is going to have a run in Surry Hills, south of Sydney. The story is set in Ybor City in Tampa, Florida--what was then the center of the US Cigar industry--in 1929. I saw the play here in Florida and highly recommend it both as entertainment and as a way of learning about the cigar industry in Florida at that time. Won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 2003.
habanablue Posted April 13, 2007 Posted April 13, 2007 This play could be the first? and last time you see cigar smoking on stage! Together with the Australian Director of Anna in the Tropics, I am giving away a double pass valued at $60 to see the show in Sydney. Full details on the blog. (obviously it would help if you are in Sydney!) cheers!
