lawsuit concerning warning stickers on cigar boxes

so while in canberra, australia i heard some very interesting news. i was told, by someone that works for the US embassy there, this little fact: the father of the girl pictured on the sticker below was suing the party responsible for using his daughters picture on this sticker:

the lawsuit is for two reasons: 1) they didn't have permission to use it AND 2) she was not in the hospital for any reason concerning smoking WHAT SO EVER!

i hope he wins big time. i have no way to find out if this indeed true, but if it is then it's a pretty low move by the anti smoking scumbags.

Not sure if true Bruce but the teet and mouth cancer one is my favourite as the Anti Smoking Council has come out and admitted the photo is doctored and not that of a real patient.

good to know. i was hoping by posting this info here that someone from australia could indeed let me know if the info i heard was true.

some of those pics on the cigarette packs over there are disgusting. my favorite is the one of the foot with gangrene or something. i couldn't figure out what the hell that had to do with smoking.

This pic seems to be on a lot of mine...these pictures are the most stupid for of warning I have ever seen. Do these morons really believe this deters anyone ? Seems like some idiots personal mind masturbation.

The Canadian stickers are pretty bad as well - pictures of post mortem brains, hearts, lungs etc. There is one however that does make me laugh - it pictures a cigarette standing on end, smoked to the filter with the ash curved into a "flacid" arch with the caption "Smoking Makes You Impotent".
