I think your right, these may well be on the discount shelf in a few months. There is just too much (not so)"special" product being stuffed down the channell for what is in the end only a limited number of hard core collectors and speculators. I think they got the supply/demand equation wrong on this one.

If they are priced at the same $'s as the Partagas D 4 "Reserva" I will be a little surprised. Then again....how much has the US$ dropped since that release....20%-25% ? I am only guessing on the numbers but you need to keep that factor into account. If the price remains the same as the D4...European and Asian buyers will effectively be paying 20% less than the Partagas D 4 Reserva as they will be buying in Euro's or HKD etc.

Retail in Switzerland for the Monte 4 Reserva is 640 CHF.

Retail for the D4 Reserva was 660 CHF.

The dollar is down 20% since mid-2005 (compared to the EURO).

I don't have a definitive answer Claudius but I will find out for you. It use to be USD but I believe it changed to Euro.

The price for the PSD4 Reserva was 480 Euros somewhere around the end of March 2005 I believe. I think it "dropped" to that.

omg finally I personally can't wait, I like the box, I'm a sucker for bling.. I bet they taste good I love the Monte 4 it's one of my favourite montes (apart from the petit edmundo and 2)

As a huge fan of this cigar, I nonetheless think it's too expensive to be worthwhile. That said, i can see it being a big marketing success. It is the most popular Habano on the planet and people will be attracted to the pretty, shiny box. Lord knows I am.

Hey Prez., are there still any of those Partagas D 4 Reserva's around to be had? I know it's a long shot but thought I'd ask. They came out long before I was privy to the FOH.

I can't recall when they were to be released but I do know that it was a decision to appease the Spanish market. Most other markets were cold on the idea.
