mr.harten
After finally getting fed up with all existing cigar inventory/rating applications being shareware that never really do what I want them to and never get maintained I have spent the better part of the last month creating my own application. I am currently working on age calculation based on box code and wanted verification if boxes from September are abbreviated SEP or SET. I believe it is SET but I have found conflicting stuff online and I do not have a September box of my own. Any help would greatly be appreciated. Thanks! There are lots out there - do a Google Search for the following: Cigar Briefcase Cigar Register Cigar Tracker Stogie Rate I am sure there are others but these are the ones I have messed around with. The problem I have encountered with all of these relates to a combination of of several things, namely: -- Buggy and never updated or maintained by the author -- Incorrect information that cannot be edited by the user -- Lack of useful tools (i.e. - low inventory alerts for favorites, age calculation based on box code OR date added to inventory for NCs and notification when maturity is reached, the ability to flag boxes as sick or in their prime, etc.) I finally just gave up and decided to author my own application. I am a month or two away but it is really shaping up to be everything I have ever wanted in this sort of application.

kjellfrick
Very cool to make your own app for this. I'm content to use Excel spreadsheets though, it suffices if you don't have a big collection IMO. No bells and whistles in Excel though, that would take too much time to develop-
mr.harten
» Cool...will you share when you get your done ???» Most likely yes. I was toying with the notion of charging a small price for it but that creates an obligation to support it which I am sure I am ready to sign up for. I will likely make it available for free with the request that if you use it for a while and find it useful you send me a small $5-$10 donation. I am still several months away from completion but when it is available I'll let everyone know.
univibe88
I've got a box of 2003s that is marked "SEPT" Talk about "it is Cuba." It's the strangest thing.
DrAlejandro
SEP is short for "Septiembre" which is september in spanish... have to agree with the rest of the guys then and say SET isnt right
