jaylax5 Posted April 13, 2007 Author Posted April 13, 2007 » Hey jay... » Very nice man. I have a couple of questions for you. Im planning on » building the same almost identical dimensions, for the weather stripping: » do you have it on the four sides or just the three, and if it is just the » three do you believe the fourth would help? Second, how thick is the » marble(or granite)?, sorry lost train of thought. On mine was planning on » using Kingswood for the body and for the part you have as granite, i was » planning on using either cocobola, bloodwood and thinking possibly » Purpleheart. » » chef Thanks. I weatherstripped all 4 sides so the door seals. The granite is 1 1/2" thick. I have a friend who took the extra piece from the sink cut out and cut it to size and polished it. Good luck with yours...it sounds like it's going to be sweet.
chef2275 Posted April 13, 2007 Posted April 13, 2007 thanks man....yeah that granite gave me another option, i think that it makes it look really nice. ill keep an eye out for it. chef

ffopusxff Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 After a couple more boxes you will have to start building another so it will be ready when this one is filled. Looks great
jwm8592 Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 Hey Jay, at the pace your going you'll have er filled up by Saint Patrick's Day. Looks way nice, great looking box you've built there. Is that a box of Cohiba Piramides EL 2006? The dark looking one? Anyhow your certainly off to a great start in the hobby of cigar smoking. cheers

Truth be told, I have a ton of room left in that humi...which is good b/c it gives me a few more years before I have to buy an aristocrat mxt plus! It is a box of '06 EL's...only had 1 so far and it was rich. Thank you for the compliment...it is a hobby I am thoroughly enjoying. :-D ;-)
Thomas Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 » UPDATED HUMI PICS FROM 11/17/07...PLEASE SCROLL DOWN... wow you do nice work! I have a question, I am doing some remodling and I installed a slider in the kitchen and completly eliminated an old back doorway, So now I have a 5'x6' dead space behind a closet in the den. I am planning on leaving the closet as a front and installing a hideaway door like this http://www.hideadoor.com/ in the den and then lining the space with cedar and dividing it in half for a humidor on one side and a gun closet on the other. I am going to asume I need an inside door to seal the humi, but would I need to vent the rest of the closet if I am storing steel? Some of my firearms date back to the turn of the century.... Is this a bad idea?...or do able,,,should I go with one or the other. again,,,nice work!
jaylax5 Posted November 21, 2007 Author Posted November 21, 2007 Thomas...thanks for the compliment. Your plan sounds really cool. I'm sure there are a few guys here who would know more about this then me. I would have to see the space, but it sounds like if you set up the humidor section as a separate airtight entity and the gun section as its own section then it probably wouldn't matter. I would imagine that the vent would be for the guns benefit. If you need to do it for the guns to breath just make sure that the humidor section is not affected. And be mindful of the temperature in that area...think about what it would be throughout the year. I hope this helps a little. Good luck and post some pics as you do it. Cheers.
