Shooter Posted February 6, 2007 Posted February 6, 2007 An afternoon smoke with some dear friends had me dig a bit deeper in the humidor. Out came an '03 Upmann Sir Winston Churchill. It has been a while since I've treated myself to one of these fine cigars. I don't think I'll wait as long after smoking this gem. The construction was just about as perfect as you could ask for and the smoke was just as smooth as silk. There was spice--and an "earthiness" so characteristic of "Mr. Upmann." A wonderful lingering taste too. The burn was perfect, the smoke volume was ample and all in all it was one hell of a fine "7-47." A solid 90 minutes of Habana-nirvana. I can fully see why it merits a price significantly above most "run of the mill" Churchills. See for yourself if you haven't already.
Colt45 Posted February 6, 2007 Posted February 6, 2007 I have a box from 2000 that has had it's share of problem draws. But the cigars that have drawn well have been spectacular.
anacostiakat Posted February 6, 2007 Posted February 6, 2007 I have smoked two out of my '03 box and they are great. I do believe they gonna get better! :-D
fenian98 Posted February 6, 2007 Posted February 6, 2007 I've been wanting to try these for a while based on all the great things I hear about them. I haven't yet, because people also rave about the Mag 46 and I find them to be only so-so.
El Presidente Posted February 6, 2007 Posted February 6, 2007 Jeckyl and Hyde cigar for me. Have had the spectacular and the rocket. Will revisit in the coming days with more recent stock.

Just smoked one (03 as well) and I can only second what you said. Gotta love that medium complex spice. My favorite churchill hands down. The best I had was a 97 that Tom gave to me a few months ago. Same profile but so much more intense and complex. One of my best habanos ever. The smell from the tube I got it in alone was so intense and spicy I cannot think of a lot of BOXES that intense. Most definitely worth aging!
Claudius Posted February 9, 2007 Posted February 9, 2007 » » The smell from the tube I got it in » » Tom took the cigar from his box in his humi and put it in a tube to give it to me later on that day.

DrAlejandro Posted February 9, 2007 Posted February 9, 2007 I had one of these the other day... nice smoke but I didnt get nearly as much flavor out of it unfortunately :-(
Professor Twain Posted February 9, 2007 Posted February 9, 2007 » » Will revisit in the coming days with more recent stock. Don't you dare give a favorable review to another cigar that I don't have a box of.
