Old habits die hard. The biggest issue is changing the mindset within a factory (quotas are all important). There are certainly plans in place to avoid what was described. Blend consistency is an increasing mantra of Habanos sa.

Unfortunately the box of SdC #1 that I have now have been exuding tar bubbles from the clipped end while smoking it. I thought the tar might be forming because of the small gauge and higher flow velocities created. I think there was a post on here a short while back with a Fuente King B with exactly the same problem. I smoked two from the same box and they both did the same thing. Any ideas? Any similar problems?

Not to say that you are not doing so already, but it's imperative to smoke these

slowly and deliberately. A speedy tequnique can result in a hot and

tarry smoke.

Also, are you a wet or dry smoker? This may sound silly, but normally, I get very

little saliva on my cigars while smoking. I've found on the occasions where, for

whatever reason, they do become wet, the tar builds up rather quickly..

Connie 1 is an hour, hour and 15 minute smoke when smoked properly. I am not sure how long it takes to get through yours :-)

I haven't experienced a similar problem with any of the Connie range and they are cigars which I smoke most often.

Do two things for me on your next Connie.

1. Time it to be an hour and 15 smoke.

2. Take your cigar out of the humidor and leave it on the bench at home for 24 -36 hours. prior to smoking it.

In fact do it now. Take one out to smoke after Sunday lunch or dinner.

Report back Sunday night and if the problem still occurs....we will do a swap.I will send you 5 of mine and you send me 5 of yours because I am intrigued :-)

I would say that I took a good hour and a half on the last one, and there was still two phalanges worth of my pointer finger left. At first I thought it to be related to the cold weather, since the first one of the box I smoked when it was about 40 degrees farenheit, but the other day it was a good 60-65 degrees out. I'm not a bone dry smoker, but I don't chew or salivate all over the end; just whatever saliva is incidental on my lips. I actually try and keep the end relatively dry.

I was pretty intrigued myself and when I was finished I unwrapped the rest of what was left. It seemed like the tar was just at the very tip of the filler leaves by the clipped end, so I'm not sure it's from drawing hard on the cigar, otherwise I would expect the tar to be streaked along the leaves or at least look like it was being drawn up the length.

I will try to dry box the next one for 12 hours. The ambient humidity here is extremely dry and I think it might make the cigar bone dry. If you insist on the full 24-36 hours I will do that, though ;)

I said 24 hrs not 12  Drybox it Saturday night for a Sunday afternoon or evening smoke.

I have a theory on this.

OK, will do. Might not get around to smoking it until Monday though.

In the dry box for 24 hours, and smoked one today (Monday) which smoked perfectly except it had a bit of a hard time staying lit, surprisingly. It was very windy out, but all in all no tar bubbles; not one drop. I will continue to smoke these in the same fashion and report back if I have another incident ;)
