CIGARHead Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 The Australian "Snook"...the Barramundi, is also found here in Florida...in stocked ponds in Osceola. Pretty cool idea, I just find the whole stocked pond fishing somewhat of a cheap thrill......except this ain't cheap. Check out his website. Ive never been, but looks interesting. $800 for 1-4 people is a bit nauseating, especially since its catch and release only. For another fee, you can keep some for table fair. I would love to try and catch this fish and EAT it as well as Ive heard it's a great fight and an even better eat. I'll probably wait until I can get Rob to take me for real though. Ben Posted February 2, 2007 Posted February 2, 2007 Barramundi is superb eating. Dunno if I'd pay 800 bucks for some fillets though
El Presidente Posted February 2, 2007 Posted February 2, 2007 Wild Barramundi is superb eating....farmed or impounded Barra has a dirty taste. I agree....fishing in a fish farm is akin to going to a brothel. Slight hollow feeling ......I assume...
Ben Posted February 2, 2007 Posted February 2, 2007 Rob surely most of the Restaurant stock would be farmed fish? I've never noticed what you describe there and I've had wild as well. Any Gators in those waters 101?

Ken Gargett Posted February 4, 2007 Posted February 4, 2007 there are several aussie companies who have set up operations (some even on our stock market) to grow and sell in barra in the states. wild definitely better but farmed can be good - not always dirty. depends on conditions. a lot is being farmed in asia. the aussie firms in the states have been very successful.

Miami101 Posted November 15, 2008 Posted November 15, 2008 Most lakes here in FLA are stock with different fish. This is a small fish from the back side of my apt...note it was stocked. I wish I could go fishing with El Prez....
Miami101 Posted November 15, 2008 Posted November 15, 2008 » » Any Gators in those waters 101? Yea sometimes you find one, or two...but they get move to a protected location. Here another stock fish:
