El Presidente Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 I have not tried the Juan Lopez Obus Regional Release. Who has and what are your opinios?
stever Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 Purchased some in Paris over the holidays and have since smoked two. I intend to do a full review of a third, perhaps with photos, in the next day or so. The first smoke had a definite sandalwood or teak-oil woody essence throughout and there were some definite tar issues despite a very good draw. To be honest, I was disappointed with the one-dimensional peculiar woody tone. However, the cigars are still very wet and require perhaps more time than some of the other regional releases I've recently smoked I smoked a second sample that came from a different box about two weeks later. It was much better than the first, with soft and rich woody, cedar and dark coffee tones. There was a noticeable flavor progression missing from the first smoke. More of what I was expecting from a regional release. Definite thumbs up now and with good aging potential. Stay tuned.
avid toker Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 If I can get over this sinus infection ever I'd smoke one and post a review :-(
Mr. Japan Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 Smoked first one last Sunday, very disappointing. Draw was difficult and no particular aromas. Day before I had the Libertador : a Mister Cigar !
cigardawg Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 I have smoked one. I thought there were some good woody flavors with some hints of coffee. It was young and needs some considerable time in the humidor, but I think it will be a fine cigar one day. The construction on mine was good, though I don't think I let it acclimate long enough. It was still a bit "wet" and did not draw as well as I would have liked. Other than that, the construction was fine.
stever Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 I think the Libertador is one of the most immediately smokeable and enjoyable of the recent regional releases. Excellent flavors throughout.

CIGARHead Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 » How do some of you gents get your hands on them because France does not » ship tobacco outside the country its against the Law there. Friends in low places Jimmy...we all have 'em...but some are lucky to have them in the right place:-D
stever Posted February 2, 2007 Posted February 2, 2007 Winter airfares to Europe are not that bad. In the alternative, perhaps there's a resident FOH member or two that would oblige.
Claudius Posted February 8, 2007 Posted February 8, 2007 Smoked about 10 JLOs, quite like them. Light, earthy, then sweet almond and honey. A perfect coffe smoke. Still a bit sharp / ammonia but I guess that's to be expecteed at that young age.
