Colt45 Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 POS SEP 06 Construction: Very good. Firm with a slight spring. Even throughout. Wrapper: Medium brown, little sheen, minimal veining. Recent cigars I've smoked have shown care in the wrapper leaf regarding veining - or maybe it's simply some nice examples. Draw; On the firm side, but plenty of smoke. The burn was exemplary - textbook razor straight for the duration. Taste: First puffs to half an inch or so were sweet and sour spice with raisin overtones. Very dense, with a sense of dark chocolate - a slab of black forest cake but with no sweetness to speak of. The finish though, was somewhat airy, and lacking. Between medium and full in body. As it progressed, the initial flavors subsided, giving way to a more toasty tobacco profile, with fruity / floral undertones. From the halfway point on, it became much more earthy, though the floral notes lingered. This is how this one finished. Though obviuosly a young cigar, it smoked quite well, and shows tremendous promise. And on a 30'(F) day, with the sun shining, it was a joy. 88
CIGARHead Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 Nice Colt45! I love the RASCC - They almost always have a spicy fruit sweetness that I enjoy in the Ramon Allones Line.Last one I had kinda pissed me off though. It had a strange acrid woodsy taste that I have experienced in many other Cuban cigars. The one common when I get this is after I recover from a cold...buy not right after. Im talkin 5-6 days. Weird?
fenian98 Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 I smoked one of these from a fiver about three weeks ago. Sep 06 also. It was the most sickly tasting cigar I've had yet. Nothing but ammonia. I set the others down for some rest.
Mel Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 On the little ones eh? More freebies that Rob should send me as thanks for the multi thou that I have sent his way. Has any one else on this site spent any REAL money at Czars?;-)

DrAlejandro Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 Ive got a box of these coming and Im FIRED up to try them out :-D :-D
Colt45 Posted January 30, 2007 Author Posted January 30, 2007 Definately an excellent cigar - nice now, but I would expect it to be stellar in a few years. After I posted, I went back and read some previous reviews - the first half inch or so matched Rob's recent review - WOW, potentially thrilling! Austin, I'm never surprised any more with regards to how things affect our senses. Mel..... good luck!! Bassman, I'd have to agree with you, and look forward to stowing some away for the future.

shrink Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 These are great cigars, but I've never been impressed with them when fresh. They need at least a couple years to truly show well. My 'late 04's ain't ready yet. Just have to be satisfied with '04 RASS and '02 898V's. :-D

I'm trying to gouge Rob into some freebies and I need all the luck I can get as has been wished on me. I love the RA line and it is a shame that I have not ordered a box of these. I'll have to put them on the buy list for the next payment to the Czar treasury.
