BigSlick Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 Gotta love a cigar that makes you reach for the roach clips!
El Presidente Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 Nice work Those cigars that you NEVER want to end always stick in my mind/
cigardawg Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 Great review. The RA 898 is, like the Prez said, one of those cigars that you don't want to end. They just get better and better.
marco polo Posted January 9, 2007 Posted January 9, 2007 I tried the toothpick thing the other day and it's the only time my kids asked me what I was smoking!:-) It worked though.
Big Shooter Posted January 23, 2007 Posted January 23, 2007 Yea I need to find a box these myself. Thanks for the review. Shane

amsmoke Posted November 15, 2008 Author Posted November 15, 2008 Between Christmas and the New Year, my good friend Jeff came up to the Detroit area from Tampa to visit family and friends. We were able to reunite and headed to a local pub, Gus O'Connor's in Rochester, for a few pints of Guinness and a very special cigar: A Ramon Allones 898 from OSU July 02 (which was purchased from CZ of course). This is cigar #2 and 3 that have been smoked from this box of 25. I smoked one last year that was excellent, so my expectations were high. To no disappointment the 898 produced! Great volumes of smooth rich smoke. I'm not one to get into crazy detail about the taste of the cigar, but it was even better than the last one I smoked one year ago! This vitola really opened up after the first third. It took a moment to open up, but once the second third came around, WOW! Well balanced, smooth, rich creaminess galore. Fantastic! Now, I know Jeff appreciates a fine smoke but this 898 took the cake. You'll see what I mean from the pics! As you can see, Jeff used a toothpick to finish up his 898! And he was still getting tons of smoke from it! He has now promised to come back to town EVERY holiday! Looks like I'll need to start searching for some more boxes! :-D
