Van55 Posted December 15, 2006 Posted December 15, 2006 Ever since publication of the official 2006 Cuban cigar price list, people have expected worldwide distribution of the Bolivar Gold Medal's in boxes of 10. To date, I have not seen them offered anywhere. Does anyone know for certain that these are being re-released in general distribution, and, if so, when?

I have an aquaintance that was able to pick up a box of Gold Medals in Havana late last month. That is all I know. ;-)
Colt45 Posted December 15, 2006 Posted December 15, 2006 This was posted by Claudius in October: However, the BGMs should become available soon as they had been announced on official European price lists for about 4 or 5 months already, and Christoph Wolters (employed in Mitchell Orchant's cigar shop in Hamburg) stated yesterday that they are on their (slow) way: Rumors have it since long and these rumors cause a lot of questions about when and where etc. Now, nothing really official but the BGM's will be remade as standart cigars for the La Casa del Habano shops. That means they will be available all over the world ... Some thoughts which I have made out before: The first relaunch in 2004 remains unchanged. These will be the 2004 ones and that's the end of this part of the story. Nothing at all to worry if you stock many of these ! The new ones will be good cigars - and the Cubans decided to remake them as standart cigars because YOU bought them all and straight away. Demand makes markets. We are very proud about that as just like this we could add a little bit to the BGM history. Yet, we have no date of delivery. Cuba is very silent which means it will take a while. We will keep you updated ...... This article was published on Thursday 26 October, 2006.

From "Christoph's blog"... A couple of hours ago we received a call from one of our sources from Havana. The brandnew information on a possible release of the new Bolivar Gold Medal mentions mid of November. The minute we will receive a confirmed arrival date we will let you know. By then we will be happy to take your orders ..... This article was published on Saturday 28 October, 2006.
tigger Posted December 15, 2006 Posted December 15, 2006 The holdup is probably attributable to a delay in getting the boxes made...oh wait...wrong manufacturer. :-D I'm very much looking forward to trying these whenever they appear.

If they really are the same blend as the 2004-05 German limited release, I will be all over them.
habanohal Posted December 15, 2006 Posted December 15, 2006 What about all the suckers out there that paid over $400 or $500 or even more for a box???? Alot of people were trying to dump them off when news was released as them being in regular production.

Jimmy2 Posted December 16, 2006 Posted December 16, 2006 I read somewhere they were going to cost around 130 euro's i think...
anacostiakat Posted December 16, 2006 Posted December 16, 2006 If cost is the same range as before I won't be buying them.
Guest sb1396 Posted December 16, 2006 Posted December 16, 2006 » If cost is the same range as before I won't be buying them. These were not too out of the ballpark when they were released in '04. Once they sold out, the price skyrocketed. People began paying $40-$50/stick. At between $15-$20/stick they ain't cheap but they certainly are not outrageous. Scott

One of the best cigars I have ever had. Fo Sho!
Van55 Posted December 18, 2006 Author Posted December 18, 2006 A gentleman on another board reports having purchased a box in Cuba very recently. His review compares them favorably with the Wolters commissioned version. I find it interesting that these are available within Cuba. Oftentimes new releases aren't available in Cuba until months after they have been sold internationally.
Van55 Posted December 18, 2006 Author Posted December 18, 2006 I stand corrected. The guy did not actually buy a box, but "picked up a couple of singles" that had not yet been boxed. He says they are being boxed in Havana now.

El Presidente Posted December 19, 2006 Posted December 19, 2006 Our information is that we will not see them before February 2007. Given that nothing happens in Cuba January...March would be a safer bet.

Van55 Posted May 3, 2007 Author Posted May 3, 2007 Very recent word is that a UK vendor has sold a few boxes of 10 from 07. Did I read here or elsewhere that these were going to be released in boxes of 25 this year in deference to the 2005 regional release? I could swear I even saw a photo of a display at the Festival Habanos with a box of 25 BGMs shown. Anyone?

The only glimpse I got so far is from this Festival report: http://www.flyingcigar.de/travel_cigars/20...uro_5_linie.php The last photograph (Partagas) also shows a corner of a box with cigars that look like BGM's. I cannot tell what size box that would be. Visitors to the Festival should remember seeing this display or have taken pics themselves. Anybody?
bassman Posted May 3, 2007 Posted May 3, 2007 » They are available Now if you know where to look Yes but I will look for a lower price!
