Well Armed Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 Man I love the marketing genius behind these beuties. I smoked an '06 Sig VI Monday and it was the richest cigar I have ever had in my entire life. I am not joking. I was drunker than Ken in Havana but I remember it dominating my tastebuds from the very first puff. Crazy rich. Then I got some Sig II tubos yesterday and went right to work. Not AS rich but un****inbelievably good regardless. Congrats Habanos SA you are making my day. The Sig II tubo was ROA factory code. Gonna have to keep an eye out on this factory as I have 2 boxes from them and they are both the chronic!
El Presidente Posted December 14, 2006 Posted December 14, 2006 That is great news mate :-) I love the II. The VI has been a little hit and miss but when on it has been exceptional. This year I have taken fondly to the Siglo V. Has a Siglo 1 yesterday which rocked my boat. All in all re the Siglo series....I don't think that there is a bad one being made.
Fatshotbud Posted December 14, 2006 Posted December 14, 2006 Like the Siglo line - need to check out tubos. Which ones will be in tubo?
CWS Posted December 14, 2006 Posted December 14, 2006 Truly love the Sig I. Perfect for those short times when you really want a quality smoke. Why settle when you can have a Cohiba. The 06's have been dynamite.
El Presidente Posted December 14, 2006 Posted December 14, 2006 » Are the 6 tubes in stock? Rob plenty mate.
Miami101 Posted December 14, 2006 Posted December 14, 2006 I have not had it yet, but this is my New Year smoke....My friend Carlo brought one for me from Spain. I guess I will have to order some more......thnaks for the post...and good info..:-) Well Armed post some photos please.....;-) Carlos Miami
stever Posted December 14, 2006 Posted December 14, 2006 Very recently smoked a SIG II (TBS JUN 06) from El Prez's 2006 sampler pack and a SIG II tubo, also an 06, but I'm not sure of the month. Both are excellent, but I found the regular SIG II to be richer, more lush and more complex, at least at this point in time. The flavors on the Tubos are perhaps a bit more subtle, but also more recessed. I think the Tubos just need more time to develop. Perhaps they undergo a slower aging process because of being tubed.

I personally would be very suspect of a Tubed cigar that young not showing muted flavors vs a regular production cigar. Yet to smoke any of the New Tubed Habanos, so looking forward to trying them.
Professor Twain Posted December 14, 2006 Posted December 14, 2006 I haven't had the new Sig II Tubo but I have smoked a lot of tubos. Bought them that way because I travel a fair bit and I just think the tubes look cool. Never did a side by side comparison of tubed vs. non-tubed cigars, or smoked extremely young tubos--but the tubos I have smoked with at least a year and a half of age are generally exemplary in their scent and the intensity of their flavor. My all star tubo list to date includes Monte Petit Tubos from early 05, Hoyo Coronations from 04 (thanks Lisa), and Boli Tubos #3 from 00 (from Czar's Aged Cigar List). Very good tubo list includes Upmann Coronas Major, RJ #1 De Luxe, and Partagas de Luxe (the latter being good but unidimensional). I have some 04 Siglo VI Tubos that I haven't touched but they are already developing plume and I plan to have one for my Christmas cigar. I would guess that the cedar sleeves and relatively closed environment of the tube are superior to boxes or cabinets in maintaining the essence of the cigar. Maybe I will fill up some of my empty tubes and set them aside with some un tubed cigars to put this to the test. Can't wait to get some Siglo II Tubos and RJ Short Churchill Tubos!
stever Posted December 15, 2006 Posted December 15, 2006 Thanks for the recommendations on the tubos. I need to try more. I'm going to hold onto my empty SIG II tubos and fill them with regular SIG IIs just to see what happens down the road. We'll have to compare notes.
