Jimmy2 Posted December 1, 2006 Posted December 1, 2006 Never really hear much about this cigar anyone like them out here are they worth a space in the humidor? Reason why i am asking is i am getting into smaller ring gauge cigars..
tigger Posted December 1, 2006 Posted December 1, 2006 Were these not discontinued at the end of last year? I'm a fan of the Cervantes size, and am very sorry to see some very good cigars (SLR, RG) going away. I haven't had one of the Upmanns in a few years, but I recall enjoying the ones I've smoked. Sorry I can't be more specific than that...
anacostiakat Posted December 1, 2006 Posted December 1, 2006 I thought they were discontinued during 02. Anyway, I liked them very much but many of the 01s I had were plugged. :-(
tigger Posted December 1, 2006 Posted December 1, 2006 » I thought they were discontinued during 02. Jeez, time sure does fly.
1f1fan Posted December 1, 2006 Posted December 1, 2006 I have 10 remaining from a 1999 box that are outstanding. Not a tight roll or plugged stick in the box....other friends of mine with 01 boxes have not been so lucky. If you find any just make sure they draw.....and yes I'm almost positive these were disc in 02.
cigardawg Posted December 1, 2006 Posted December 1, 2006 Yep, discontinued in 02. Very nice draw...when you get ones that draw. I am smoking from a box from MAY00...many tight/plugged cigars in that box. Now, when I can get them to draw, they have fantastic flavor. Very "Upmann." Most of the stock I have seen have been 00 and 01...pretty risky, but maybe worth it.
pittesq Posted December 1, 2006 Posted December 1, 2006 Been looking for these for a while with no luck! The closest I came were some '02s (June I think) which I was later told to steer clear of since others with the same exact code have had mostly plugged sticks.

Jimmy, if you have a great one it is sublime. However this cigar had been ravaged in the last years of production by tight draws. Habanos s.a may point the finger at lack of sales for discontinuation in 2002. However, due to poor construction, the cigar never stood a chance. Who wants to gamble $225 on a 50% chance the box was generally good?
sleeper Posted December 5, 2006 Posted December 5, 2006 My favorite lonnie when they draw. I have had many dowels, but enough great smokes to make my boxes worthwhile.
