Bill Hayes Posted November 20, 2006 Posted November 20, 2006 On a whim, I've decided to head off to Argentina for a holiday in Jan. Does anyone know of a good cigar bar in Buenos Aires? And is there any probs taking cigars to Argentina? I'm not travelling through the US, but through Auckland, then Santiago Chile. :-D

bassman Posted November 20, 2006 Posted November 20, 2006 Decent selection & reasonable prices at the duty Free in Buenos Aires international airport. Prices are VERY high at the BA LCDH, however
Tom Bolivar Posted November 20, 2006 Posted November 20, 2006 » Decent selection & reasonable prices at the duty Free in Buenos Aires » international airport. Prices are VERY high at the BA LCDH, however I'll second the high prices in Buenso Aires. Did not see a decent selection in the duty free in March of last year though. Out of Buenos Aires Argentina is waste land when it comes to cigars. Depending on where you come from it's clearly worth bringing your own. ;-) But while you are there have some Empanadas, Bife de Chorizo and Lomo! Apart from that I flew with Aeroflot and Aerolinias and nothing tops the russian stile of comodity. I never have been escorted to the hotel by a machingun carying soldier before and after (had a "short" unplaned and UNWANTED stopover in Moscow due to a closed airport in Luxemburg. The iron curtain still was solid at that time...) :-) Whorst trip of my life. But come to think of it, Aeroflot usually has a stop over in Cuba!
Bill Hayes Posted November 20, 2006 Author Posted November 20, 2006 Will be flying Lan Chile. Have flown with them before and the latin gent sitting next to me crossed himself and kissed his gold cross necklace as we prepared for take-off. Guess I'll just have to bring my own cigars and break up that crisp Patagonian air with the sweet scent of a siglo 6. :-D
habanablue Posted November 21, 2006 Posted November 21, 2006 always funny how alot of latin american countries applaud the pilot when you touch down. Always goes well to thank they bloke that got you there in one piece!:-D

Taino Posted November 22, 2006 Posted November 22, 2006 Well I live down here and travel a lot to BAires, so I can speak with first hand knowledge. 1- Lan Chile: not a bad airline at all, I travel a lot all over the world, and Lan is a typical airline, nothing special, besides their balance sheet, profitable in an industry not particularly known for good blue numbers. 2- Duty free at Ezeiza: fair prices of cubans with an extremely variable stock, you can find it empty or full and everything in between, hope you are lucky. I would suggest you to buy only at the duty free or LCDH everything else is full of fakes. 2- Cigar Bars: (haven't been there in while so check by phone before you go), “Gran Vega Cigar Bar” at J. A. Cabrera 4667, Palermo, ph: 4832-2703. Cuban owner
