Welcome back El P! I hope you’re weekend was a fine one.

A quick question for you, Tampa or anyone else with experience of both…

How does the flavor profile of a Juan Lopez Seleccion #1 compare to that of a #2?

Inquiring mind wants to know.

Muchas gracias.

If you smoked these two cigars back to back, "blind", you would never guess that they are from the same marca. They are completely different.

With a few years, the No. 1 is one of the finest mild-medium bodied Coronas Gorda in the world. It is complex and sophisticated, with "spring garden" floral and herbal notes. A great smoke for a sunny afternoon.

On the other hand, the No. 2 is a full-bodied spicy Robusto, with loads of twang and a unique flavor profile. It has been variously described as being reminiscent of cedar, caramel, and maple. Cold, it has the sweet aroma of a damp pine forest. Great with age, it can be smoked younger than the No. 1, IMO.

Hey thanks Shrink, just the info I needed.

The JLS1 has been my go to smoke lately and the last I enjoyed was just as you said, parked in my canvas rocker on a sunny fall afternoon with nothing more than a bottle of water. I think you nailed the essence of the flavor/profile.

I’ve been tempted to go for the JLS2 after hearing Rob rave about them; it may just be time to pony up to the bar.

Thanks.:ok:

I do not like the 1.

I just smoked a fresh No. 2, and it was great. I would have guessed that it was a Boli Royal Corona. I recently received a 5er of '00 vintage and it will be interesting to compare them to '06.

I agree completely Shrink.

If Por Larranaga came in a Robusto then I believe it would come close to the Juan Lopez Seleccion No 2 from 2006. Lip smacking tasty SOB.

The weekend away was great Freefall....my Brownie Points are overflowing after taking the family away :-D
