These are the official prices, defined by 5th Avenue (nice website at www.5thavenue.de btw, although in German only) and which are stated on the tax labels that are stuck to the boxes (and are illegal for the dealer to remove). Dealers are allowed to (and usually do) give a 3% discount for whole box purchases.

I'll be travelling to France at the end of 07 and I am very excited if it means that I might be able to pick up a couple sticks! Forgive me if the production cycle is common knowledge, I'm new to the whole RR thing.

I'm not sure how long the RR are supposed to last; initially, IIRC, they were supposed to be exclusive for certain markets for 2 or 3 years, but subsequently that was (or will be) changed to 1 year. El presidente will be able to tell you how it works exactly I suppose. What I meant to say by "next year" is that the French importer told the French dealer I bought the French RRs from that there was a small batch of 10er boxes, but they have all been sold to dealers and following boxes are still to be produced; they expect that to take 3-4 months (which brings us to next year).

Ahh, thanks for clearing that up. How popular will these be in France? Is the market for the RRs as demanding as it is in other parts of the world? It would be nice if those 10ers stayed on the shelf until December of 2007.

AFAIAA, France is the 4th or so export market for premium Habanos, something around 8 or 9% out of the 150 million Habanos produced. So 60,000 Juan Lopez Obus RRs does sound little compared to the approx 10 - 14 million cigars sold in France every year.
pnutbutrsangwich Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 Thanks Claudius, your comments have been very informative:-)
