Colt45 Posted October 12, 2006 Posted October 12, 2006 » It is without doubt that the central issue raised of concern amongst cigar » lovers of loss of diversity and continuous emphasis towards larger gauge » cigars by HSA took him by surprise. Is the emphasis new cigars in new sizes, a la the Edmundo and Siglo VI, or bringing out more conventional large gauges in the manner of the upcoming RA Estupendo? Maybe both, or none of the above? Thanks for all your efforts! (I'd say hard work, but........)

(I'd say hard work, but........) Firstly....I have never seen the sense in seperating business from pleasure The sole emphasis is releasing new cigars that sell. If they could be assured of a sure fire thin gauge winner....they would produce it. However, when they have the opportunity to produce say a General Production Montecristo Robusto or a Punch Laguito No 1...their research team goes through the process and comes to the conclusion that the Montecristo Robusto would be a runnaway success and the Punch Laguito No 1 a likely commercial failure. The loss of diversity is a direct result of capping production levels. They are releasing some winning cigars (P2/Edmundo/VI) + the regional releases and edicion limitada's. The tobacco has to come from somewhere.
