I agree with you TR. This is one cigar where in 2007/8 everyone will be trying to locate a box.

I shook my head when I saw the initial reviews (elsewhere) for these. I think it is unfair on any cigar to smoke and review one withinn 30-60 days of receiving it. Much like the R&J Short Churchills which also received a bollocking in reviews initially, these were very wet upon release.

I have smelled a box at a dealer; it smelled like MENTHOL. I was so surprised I asked them to smell it, too, and they confirmed. They say they should be smoked in 5 years time (but bought now LOL). They might be right. Should have bought a box. Will do soon while they are still easy to be found from the first release.

Tried another Monday.

The flavour charachteristics as so very unlike Montecristo at this stage. Powerfull, lot's of pepper not too much of a hint of cocoa or cream. Potential yes. I would like to re-assess after six months. Could become a classic....could become a dud.

I hate ugly ducklings......I want my swan now

After all if they where made along the line of the first release from 2001 that's exactly how they should be. The ones from 2001 where really not a pleasure to smoke in the first year.

But I haven't tried one from the 2006 release. I'll wait a few years to try one of the singles I have.

I'll second that, I didn't like them when I split a box with a friend back in early 2002, so I gave most of them away as gifts to friends and family. I smoked my last one earlier this year and really enjoyed... :-(

Actually IMO, they weren't "smokeable" for the first couple of years.
