El Presidente Posted August 25, 2006 Posted August 25, 2006 Enjoyed this one yesterday afternoon on the rocking chairs while talking to Smithy about why he is so sure he is not homosexual. By the end of our conversation he had serious doubts. I am glad I could help him out and finally suggested he speak to Ken. Classic Golden brown San Cristobal wrapper. Sugar and compost smell at cold. Clipped the end, draw on the tight side of perfect but more than workable. Massaged suspected tight section, drew again...perfect. The opening of this Belicoso was medium full bodied with that typical San Cristobal toasted tobacco and molasses taste. Yet again I am finding 06 to be fuller bodied than 05. At this point there was not a hint of harshness from the cigar as it built in strength to definitively full bodied. As it approached the 2/3 mark the sweetness disappeared to be replaced by white pepper and clove notes. Interesting albeit not my style. Maintained it's poise to the end while turning a little tannic at the very end. Overall the cigar was enjoyable. I believe they are still too wet. I have taken another out for this afternoon but have left it outside here on my office desk to dry out. Will post an update tomorrow.

Massaged suspected tight section, drew again...perfect. That's the funny thing about Denial... the more they protest, the more I suspect. :-D And as for your comment. Are you sure you never worked in a bath house? Thanks for the review. There is a developing theme here, about greater strength and body in the '06's. The ones I've had have been excellent. Time to try some more, I guess.
naga5 Posted August 25, 2006 Posted August 25, 2006 interesting review, rob. i'll be reading the update. pigfishy ray turned me on to to that particular smoke and it remains a favorite for me. as for smithy and your conversation, i can only hope he seeks counseling and gives up his newfound dream starring in a broadway play based on the village people. rick

Far more San Cristobal Molasses for far longer. Did not get tannic until the last 1/2 inch. Still a strong cigar, far stronger than any production since release. Very enjoyable. The lesson here is that many 06 cigars are wet when first received. They need to lose some of that moisture content. No big news I know
Colt45 Posted November 15, 2008 Posted November 15, 2008 Another line I haven't tried - thanks for the review. As for Smithy, I fear the worst:
