One damn fine smoke in my opinion. Woody, a bit of a saltiness(in a good way). A definite change of pace cigar. When I dont want conventional, I always reach for the Serie A. I say get 'em, but get a cabinet.;-)
Colt45
Try a search of the review forum - there are a number of reviews for this cigar. I have an '02 box, and while I enjoy them, they are a bit mundane when compared to many others (you were right Rob). They have nice body, but are very subtle flavor-wise. I agree with Cigar Head in that they are a nice change of pace. My own personal suggestion would be to get some singles, before buying a couple of boxes. ToddziLLa
The Saint Louis Rey Serie A is my favorite cigar. Allow me to copy and paste a review I did awhile ago: I figure I will throw my two cents in on a cigar that has been reviewed many times before. I cracked open a box of 02 SLR A's tonight, and boy am I glad I did. One of my all-time favorites, this cigar started off with hints of cedar. About 1/3 the way through, very nice and welcome hints of tobacco came to join the party. Yum. Then out of nowhere, loads of spice come barging in to let me know I needed to strap in for the rest of it. Needless to say, my fingers are still recovering from the burn after nubbing this bad boy. The construction was flawless. I tried to ash it after about an inch of lovely silver and black ash formed and I couldn't! The wrapper was a very attractive dark caramel color. Not too oily either. Draw was perfect IMO and the aroma of the smoke was intoxicating. On top of that, I was enjoying some Smithwick's Irish Ale which complemented it perfectly. I know lots of you have some 02 and/or 03 SLR A's. Smoke them now. Smoke one tonight. Smoke one tomorrow. Smoke one this weekend. IMO, they are in their prime from these two years. Maybe it's time to stock up on even more of these stogies. I love 'em!

Or, the SS#2 or Black Prince even! If you are looking for a different stroke, try the Mag 46. Or JL#1. Or Epi #1. Or Siglo IV. Or the RyJ Ex #3. All are very good in their own right. The ERDM GC was the June tatser cigar and it was very good. But alas, very hard to find. My favorite Corona Gorda? SS#2 hands down. Runner up? Upmann SC or Siglo IV or JL#1/Mag 46. gyosa
thanks everyone ! i ordered a couple boxes of the PP (jun 2005) , AND a couple sticks of the SLR A's ....... i tend to gravitate towards a "spicy"cigar - so i'll give the A's a try and maybe order a couple boxes if i like 'em. my favorites are the RG CE's , RASS , Partagas LE 2000 Piramides , Boli Beli's , RyJ- Churchills , Cazadores , and Beli's .... i like full flavored cigars - hence the trepidations regarding the A's .... thanks for the input ! -bk

I've never had one with a serious age time on them. As soon as I have them, I find myself grabbing the SLR over many other sticks. I will be getting in another box soon and looking forward to having these in stock once again.
bassman
SLr A is my favorite corona gorda. The 02s are IMHO, the best of recent years, but early 03s quite nice too.

tandblov
I have never been a Mag 46 fanm but the series A can be a wonderful smoke! I remeber them as being light and "citrisy". The last one I had was approx 3 years old and had developed a wonderful aroma. I would suggests the cab version, only because that was what I had and I loved it. gyosa
» Instead of 2 SLB's why not a Cabinet? X:yes: Crazy as it may seem , 2 reasons : boxes of 25 are easier to fit into my overcrowded humidor , and the cab's take longer to fully mature - i just don't see myself "sitting" on a box for 15 years ! -bk
