A question regarding Top Tipper World Cup!

Recommended Posts

I don't understand how there can be a draw in the quarterfinals when somebody has to win to move on? A draw means a tie and their can be no more ties until the Champion is decided, I just want some clarification because I was under the impression that a draw can no longer occur.

There cannot be a draw. The winner must move on. If no one scores in the overtime period, then they go to the best of 5 penalty kicks. If it is still tied after 5 kicks, then it goes into sudden death penalty kicks.

Maybe since the final score was officially 1-1, that counts as a draw, even though the game went to pk. I guess we need some clarification, I don't know, I am just a stupid American. When does pre season football start?:-P

I agree. It is sheer crap if the people who picked Germany don't get credit. Draws are only valid until you get to the round of 16 and then the rules change where there must be a winner one way or the other, or is this tipping competition the exception to the world cup rules? Can you tell someone is drooling for those COROS :lookaround:

Check your results for Monday's Sweden -v- Ukraine match. Ended in a 0-0 result after 120 minutes. Ukraine won the match on PK's. Toptipper scored the match as a DRAW. I picked Sweden to win, so I recieved zero points. If you picked the Ukraine and recieved a point then you have your answer.

One other point: Toptipper has not removed the DRAW OPTION. This leads me to believe that Draws are allowed.

I just want a fair game. I thought it might go to penalty kicks but the form clearly states "Your Predicted Winner", I knew there couldn't be a draw anymore in the quaterfinals, that one team must be declared the winner and move on so I picked Germany, how could anyone who picked Germany to win not receive a point? On the contrary if you picked a draw, you still would have to "Pick the Winner" because there are no more draws in this stage of the competition. I'm sure there is a good answer I'm just waiting anxiously.

Same scenario today with England and Portugal, can anyone tell me how this works? If you pick the winner of the match, even though it went to penalty kicks do you get a point? And if you picked a draw do you receive a point even though there cannot be anymore draws in the quaterfinals?

Is it specified in the tipping rules? I'm really lost and would like to know sometime before the end of the world cup. If everyone here is under the assumption that a draw is not an option for scoring purposes that definitely alters one's tips. It shouldn't be so confusing. The program ought to default to a winner or loser and remove draw as a possibility in the present tips, but it does not appear that it does. Can someone please help? Rob? Now that you have time to fish since Argentina lost and you are no longer sweating in a raucous german midfield ina blue and white pin-striped jersey, can you help us, please? Some of us feel

If we are playing by FIFA rules, a tie at the end of the game/overtime is considered a draw; the reason for that option. The shootout is only used because someone must advance - but the game would still be considered a draw with the final score 0-0.

On top tipper the category clearly states "TIP THE WINNER" how anyone can possibly say if you picked Germany or Portugal you didn't "TIP THE WINNER" is beyond me. I picked the winner in both matches and should receive points for both , there cannot be a draw if there must be a winner in the quarterfinals. A draw means a tie in every country in the world, there are no more ties>

This is starting to get better than the WC itself!!

Rob, thanks for putting this all together. You have offered a very generous prize at your own expense. I participate in a couple of other pools like this one. They are far more difficult, you have to pay to participate, and the prize is not as generous. Once again thank you!!!

» Buggered if I know.

»

» I assumed it works like normal betting houses in that you can pick a draw

» at the end of 90 minutes

Well I picked a draw between Germany&Italy in the semifinals and I received NO points? The match was 0-0 after 90 minutes? I can't figure this out, because I don't think anyone including toptipper has any idea what the scoring system is.

If there is a goal during overtime then it is not a draw. The draw option is only good if it goes to penalty kicks. Not making it up, this is how FIFA set it up.
