Which cigar would immediately comes to mind if guessing what someone smoked if you only heard the words, "It was like smoking a slice of chocolate cheesecake with a chocolate mousse topping, with a spoonful of heavy whipping creme and a buttery graham cracker crust"?

This is how I would describe a 2004 Hoyo Epi#2 that I smoked out of a 3-pack in cardboard and it was one of the best cigars I have ever had. In fact, if it wasn't producing billowing clouds of aromatic smoke I would have thought I was eating the above dessert.

The only cigar I've ever smoked that was a dessert experience was a Monte #2 I smoked about a month ago. As I smoked it, I had the desire to chew and swallow what was tickling my taste buds. So far only the one out of four I've smoked has smacked of sweet cinnamon and maple sugar and cream. With any luck, I'll find another before long.

Interesting. Another HdM....and I agree this cigar is also just as good as a slice of cake.

Yup. This cigar was a new discovery for me last January. A generous friend in San Diego gifted me one and it rocked.

There is one cigar that fits this description far better than any Cuban I've had and that is the Graycliff Espresso Elegante. It is a boutique brand made in the Bahamas from various tobaccos. It was blended by Avelino Lara and Enrico Garzaroli for Graycliff.

While Cuban cigars hint (albeit strongly) at the aforementioned flavors, the Elegante is the embodiment of that profile. In fact, this cigar is so strong in the cocoa/espresso/graham/brownie flavor dimension that I cannot imagine smoking them but occasionally. IMO, it is the equivalent of the Bolivar Gold Medal in this flavor profile. The density of these flavors is utterly stunning.

Unfortunately, these cigars are not widely distributed and when they can be found, cost about $14 per. Mind you, I enjoy my Habanos very much, but exceptional cigars such as this one demonstrate the latitude that is simply not available to Cuban puros.

wow, i've only smoked 3 or 4 expressos and all had a charry flavor to them...I've yet to try the hoyo but the VR famasos comes to mind for me...
