1. Would you take the cigars out of the box and place in the Humidor ? Or just to place box in the Humidor ?

2. Tubes, again would you take them out the tubes and into the humidor to party with the others?;-)

3. Is it better to keep the humidor in relatively darkness, such as the house basement or expossed to light, indirect sunlight ?

Thanks,

Mike

Some of my newb replies in bold above, but it all depends on what you mean by aging. The above (#1 and 2) should apply if long term, ie years. If I were looking for short term aging then out of the box with more airflow.

Edit: for real long term, I keep my boxes in ziplock bags to prevent as little change in the surroundings as possible. As a newb to this, I only have a few boxes set aside this way and do not really know what the long term outcome will be. From my research, it should be good. But having not smoked any from these boxes, if the cigars were poor to begin with then they will most likely be poor years down the road. Here's hoping for good luck with the habanos gods.

Keep them in the box. Until there are like half left. Then out with the old, in with the new.

Leave in there. Much discussion on whether to let them acclimate with top off for a while. I am too lazy so I leave them alone.

absolutely no light is best. Or too much heat. Heat is only necessary to keep moisture in the air. Other than that it is detrimental. Well, maybe not that bad but not good.

Ditto

I keep my in my lowest level where temps/rh remain constant - it's not dark but definitely out of the sunlight.
