El Presidente Posted May 16, 2006 Posted May 16, 2006 Habanohal asked the following question...which was a beauty. Why out of all cabs that are being banded now, that Juan Lopez seems to not have them? They have been the only ones without bands now. Well to be honest, I had no idea why Juan Lopez post June 04 were still being shipped unbanded so I asked a friend in Habanos s.a. His response is below but as you can see...he is as mystified as the rest of us As far as I know all Habanos are being released with bands since June 2004. Nevertheless you still could find boxes of Juan López Seleccion No 1 and 2 unbanded in the market which have been produced before that very date. All cigars in a bundle are to be banded as well as in semi plain boxes no matter under which brand they are produced, so they said. Having talked with CDH managers I am now realized they have boxes from 2005 of said brand without bands. !!!This came as a surprise to me because that regulation was mandatory. Just wanted to make sure of it, and made some callings to other retailers. Hamlet, our mutual friend, also phoned me similar information in so I'm getting really concerned about it. I wasn't aware of the fact... We are re-designing bands of some brands, including Juan Lopez as regards to colour engraving, medal embossing and line highlighting. Maybe this could be the reason why they are still shipped away without bands. Just speculating, no official information has been released to confirm this plus they are not aware about the consequences of not following the regulation in a proper way.
jgros001 Posted May 16, 2006 Posted May 16, 2006 As always great info, thanks As a side note, I much prefer the cabs without the bands...just looks nicer with just the yellow ribbon.
