mulberry Posted May 5, 2006 Posted May 5, 2006 I've had these sitting for 6 months and gave one a try last night. First off they have a medium brown wrapper and very smooth, but not that tightly rolled, clipped the end and found a very easy draw. After lighting it started with a strong spiciness (not pepper) and tobacco flavor, light cinnamon taste underneath which it gave a very unusuall spicey profile, it stayed medium to full bodied all the way through without any flavor changes and had a bite of youth halfway in Had to correct burn 3 times, but the draw was perfect giving out alot of smoke. This was only my second VR and had the DA before which tastes very different from this, so i didnt know what to expect but found it very enjoyable and strong. burn problems caused me to give a B+ 88-100
ehdg Posted May 5, 2006 Posted May 5, 2006 I'm a big fan of the entire VR line up in fact. But the Unico's I've found to be much more enjoyable and consitent then the Monti 2 in fact. These are a very nice spicey full bodied stick that at times can leave a nice coating in one's mouth.

Thanks for the review - have heard many good things on this vitola but yet to pick up any myself. I am kind of stand offish with cigars with less than 2 years on them - that is what aging is about..........

Thanks for the review. Of all Habanos, I think the Vegas Robaina are the best with less than 2 years of age. I just don't think they need much age to taste and smoke great. The Unicos? ...my favorite of the line so far. Been carrying around an 04 for the past three days...guess it's time to smoke it.:-P
Colt45 Posted May 6, 2006 Posted May 6, 2006 The Unicos is a great cigar - I've been thinking of burning one this weekend. To me, VRs in general, are some of the most beautiful Havanas. Give them a bit of time - you'll be rewarded.
tacmedic Posted May 6, 2006 Posted May 6, 2006 I love the entire VR line, and maybe i'm one of the few, but I prefer the famasos to the unico...
El Presidente Posted May 8, 2006 Posted May 8, 2006 Great review I find that "very easy draw" to be a killer of Habanos flavour. To receive the full array of flavour, you need to have a draw which requires a slight pull.
