skid11 Posted April 20, 2006 Posted April 20, 2006 Nice review in the GT Wine magazine Ken. It was good to read an informed independant review of different clubs within Australia. I have been a member of most of them over the years but now rely on my local suppliers discounts on "known label" brands. I found that most clubs supplied good labelled wines but also threw in the generic (never heard of) labels in the mixed dozens........... OK the proof of the wine is in the drinking and some of these might of been OK but I always felt like I was getting a bit ripped off. Wine Clubs need to make money to survive so they were sourcing these wines very cheaply to sell them at the prices they do. Also it is impossible to get a review on these generics (apart from the suppliers own blurb) prior to purchasing. The convenience of having them delivered to your door is a good point, but I like to know what I'm getting. My local has Hardy's Oomoo and Annie's lane Shiraz for $12.95 a bottle Great Value ! and also Peter Lehmann Clancy for $8.95 even better value.
