Magnum 50

A friend of mine recently sent me a Mag 50 to try. It had a plain brown Upmann band with the EL band. Then I saw some pictures of the red and white Upmann band with Magnum 50 in the center. Are two versions of this being made? Were the bands changed in mid production? Or did I get a counterfeit?

I'm heading to LCdH Tijuana today. Most of the pre-release samples I've heard of came from there. I'll ask the owner if any of the boxes had regular HU bands.

David (the owner) was not in, but the salesman, Moses, says all he has seen had the colored MAGNUM 50 band. I still wouldn't call the cigar a fake. It may very well be that some pre-release cigars had the brown band.

I smoked the same one (same source I assume :-D ), I thought it tasted like a very young Mag46 but bigger! I told him they were fakes when he sent it but it was a darn good fake though.

A good fake is still a fake IMO.

These guys with good fakes could make money without being a$$holes if they marketed them as custom rolled stuff.

sorry to hear about the fake but in all honesty... a good fake is slightly better than some of the dog rockets I have come across.... at least you can finish the cigar...some I have had would have made my dog roll over and die just from sniffing it.
