SuperT Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 LMAO!! That looks like a job for 'T'. I can dooooooo that!
jgros001 Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 I must agree crabbing is one of the higher skilled fishing activities. Tying the bait to the cage, slowly dropping it into the water. The really difficult part comes when it is time to find the cages after 4 hours of drinking and smoking.
JMH Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 One of the many sports only the truly gifted have the ability to enjoy *raises glass*
cigarnv Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 ... and if you are lucky you will have a great dinner
1f1fan Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 Cold beer, cigar, relaxing on a boat....that's my kind of fishing expedition!
Wiley Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 Now if only my brother wouldn't insist on taking his boat crabbing when it's raining and miserable, this would all come together. :-P
idesign Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 That's a great picture! I haven't been crabbing since I was a little kid, so I never had a chance to utilize the skills you clearly possess.....:-D
Well Armed Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 Looks like a RyJ and a Sierra Nevada Pale Ale in his hands.
stogies&hoagies Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 » LMAO, good post. I now see, I've been doing it all wrong all these years.
CIGARHead Posted March 23, 2006 Posted March 23, 2006 » » » » LMAO, good post. I now see, I've been doing it all wrong all these years. There is actually a variation of crabbing which is crabbed...same position, just passed out, beer spilled and cigar burning your shorts. Been there a few times:-|
connoiseur29 Posted March 23, 2006 Posted March 23, 2006 When my wife sends me out to clean the gutters and mow the lawn, I'll think of that picture and pull my flask of glenlivet 18 year and a fine cigar and enjoy it on the rooftop while I'm hard at work, thereby escaping the post-golf or post-fishing wrath/weekend-to-do-list of the mrs.
kingfisher59 Posted March 23, 2006 Posted March 23, 2006 » That's a great picture! » I think I could be GOOD at it if it's anything like you in the Picture....;-)
mmblz Posted March 23, 2006 Posted March 23, 2006 great description, prez. so this type of crabbing involves putting a chunk of fish on a string, hanging it over the side of the boat, waiting until you feel a crab grab on, then slowly, slowly pulling the string in until the crab is close enough to grab with a net. on this day, there were few crabs, and i was pretty bad at the "slow so they don't know what's happening" part, so i think i tied the string around my ankle (had to pretend to keep trying) and enjoyed the beer and cigar. as you can see in the picture, the slope on the front of the boat was just perfect... yes it's a sierra nevada. i can't remember what the cigar was, but it wasn't cuban.
El Presidente Posted November 15, 2008 Author Posted November 15, 2008 Crabbing is a high skill, high involvement exercise which few people do correctly. You require the perfect balance of beer in one hand....cigar in the other. A mate on board who is having marital problems is an absolute must as it is in these times that you can generally solve his problems along with those of Middle Eastern politics, your favourite football team, religion, immigration, telemarketers and general rashes and diseases which are not responding to anti-biotics. I tip my FOH cap to you Julian ;-)
