cigarnv Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 ERdM Grandes de Espana - 1998 Talk about a cigar that does not get much respect... the Grandes de Espana certainly fits the bill. This cigar is a bit unusual right off the bat..a box pressed gran panatela. This particular cigar was very well rolled, as all of these seem to be, with a medium colorado wrapper that had a dusty look to it with just a hint of oil sheen. The cigar felt hard to the touch, but once clipped drew perfectly. I remain impressed with how consistently well made this cigar is. Upon lighting I got an intense rush of flavor.. honey, fruit and hints of wood. The smoke was soft, creamy and rich. This is a medium strength cigar with not a hint of bitterness or tannin. Even with just a 38 ring gauge this cigar generated a great deal of smoke and burned razor sharp for 7". This cigar exhibited significant complexity, perfect balance and saturated flavors. Most impressive was that finish that went on and on. This is a very elegant cigar that never disappoints. A cigar to enjoy when reading a good book on a quiet afternoon......
Wiley Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 I've been wondering about these. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
ironman Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 I agree, a very nice delicate smoke which must be smoked slowly...Nice review!!!!
smk819 Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 I have a box from '02 that give a similar experience to what you described.
habanohal Posted March 18, 2006 Posted March 18, 2006 I have 2 boxes from 02. A great tasteing cigar, But problems due to very tight draw. When I get 1 that is perfect, they are spot on delicious.
