Grew up in the SF Bay Area, and discovered football right about the time the 49ers got good (1981). So, lifelong Niners fan. Since I've moved about the US a good bit, I tried to engage in teams in areas of the country I was in. Two teams stuck -- Green Bay, and the Patriots, who I started to enjoy the minute Drew Bledsoe sat down, and Tom Brady started leading the team.

So what you are saying is you jumped on the Patriots bandwagon when they started winning Superbowls. They are a very good team and I just wanted to point out (as a cowboys fan) that catch in 81 was still luck. Montana was just throwing that up out of desperation.

I've seen the catch a zillion times, and indeed, it's a combination of pure luck, with the addition of athleticism and a split-second defensive lapse.

As for the Patriots, I enjoyed their play before the Super Bowl victory -- I've been a lifelong Michigan fan, and have tended to follow certain players as they move into the pros (yeah, even the ones who wind being crap or average). I was excited about Brady playing well, got me to pay attention to a team I had hated for years.

» I'm a Jets fan. Yes, I know, it hurts . . .

Thank God a JETS fan! Yeah, it hurts. As Jets fans we live for PAIN!

J-E-T-S... JETS-JETS-JETS.

I am sooooo early for the season, but I found this thread so I figured I woudl jump in. That said, I am ready to partake in the the FOH NFL CHALLENGE. By the way, who won last year?

To be a Lions fan, one must be a bit of an optimist -- and a bit of a masochist!

The World Champions. The Men of Steel. The Black and Gold. The Pittsburgh Steelers. Not a great Super Bowl, but the other three playoff games, beating the 1, 2, and 3 seeds on the road, were incredible. Colts game will go down as one of the all-time greats.

If we can get a power back to complement Fast Willie, look out. Lost a few FAs, but the Steelers have always been great talent evaluators and excel at replacing over-priced FAs (did anyone miss Plaxico?). Randle-El is no big loss - look at his stats.

Maybe an FOH fantasy league?

I have been a NY Jets fan all my life, through Ken'Obrien, Vinny Testaverde, the amazing but crippled Chad Pennington and many replacements. They always lose. It doesn't matter what coach they have. It doesn't matter if they have one of the best defenses in the NFL, because where there's a will to lose, there's a way; and the jets will find it. It's kind of my lamentation/ode to jets jingle....you can sense the ambivalence and the false hope I have year after year. But if Joe Namath actually led the franchise to a superbowl, then eternal hope is acceptable and reasonable. Maybe they will win some superbowl, during some decade.

» Go Hawks!

The Seahawks sure made my Panthers look like school kids in the playoffs.

Yup, I'm a Panthers fan. I grew up on the Jets with Joe Namath, then the Steelers during the steel curtain reign, but now it's the Carolina Panthers.

My 9 yr old son is a huge steelers fan. His room is painted black and gold with steeler logos all over. He loved the fact the steelers beat the panthers in preseason and held that over my head all year. LOL

As surely as the sky is Carolina Blue, apple pie is an all American favorite, along with hot dogs and baseball, so too are the venerable Dallas Cowboys, truly an American icon!:ok:

Any one care to check the Cowboys record against the ‘skins, say over the last TEN games???

AMEN Freefallguy. As Jimmy Johnson once said "How 'bout them Cowboys".

We all know there is a hole in the roof of Texas Stadium so GOD can watch the Cowboys play.
