Black Plague Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 I've recently been working on putting more info about Cuban brands on Wikipedia, the huge, multi-language online encyclopedia (for those not familiar with it). So far, I have Cohiba, Montecristo, Diplomaticos, and Bolivar written up, with more on the way. In the master category of cigar brands, I consulted Habanos SA's website regarding which brands are global, multi-local, local, and niche. All were on there except for La Corona, Gispert, and Troya. Though they've been reduced heavily over the years, and even before the 2002 discontinuations, Gispert only made one size, they're still historic brands. So maybe El Presidente or anyone else knowledgeable about the Habanos catalog can answer this...or those brands effectively dead now?

Troya is the only one of those three brands of which we can purchase stock.....not that I would as it is absolute Crap. I have not seen a Gispert for 3 years but I have never looked for them....as they were crap.
tey Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 had a troya given to me when i went back home(mexico city) to visit. it was atrocious
Tampa1257 Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 Of the three, the only ones that I have smoked are the La Corona, and all of them were from the early 1990's. You can still find some from the mid 90's currently available in some locations. I have no clue what they may have tasted like fresh, but with 10 plus years of age, they are a good smoke. I have tried the PCs. Not bad really. They sort of have some kick to them now. I smoked one just a couple of weeks ago. I also have no clue if they are even being made anymore.
Taino Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 Like Prez said, Troya is the only one on regular production and they are not really good to me. Corona on the other hand are dinosaurs you can still find with good age, not the best cigars in the world but worth trying.
