korryp Posted January 22, 2006 Posted January 22, 2006 Gotta agree on the Trinidad Fundadores all the way. It's a GREAT cigar. One of my all time fav's.
Elric Posted January 22, 2006 Posted January 22, 2006 For the most bang for the buck the Part SdC wins hands down. There are those folks that love the Trini (like me) or the lancero (not me) but the Part line does it all for a whole lot less.
PigFish Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 I have never met a 38 that I didn’t like! My favorites are the Lanceros of course and the Partagas. I think that I have smoked just about all the current production 38’s with the exception of the Vegueros. I am not much on quoting MRN but I have to agree with him and some of the posters here on this one. I believe the best of the best is rolled into the smaller rings. These cigars are truly for connoisseurs. The fact is that you don’t really need all that filler to get a satisfying and fulfilling, robust smoke. Furthermore it is my belief that the smaller ring cigar provides for more complete combustion of tobacco. The cigar lends itself to a lager range of smoking styles. It is all a matter of how hot you want to smoke them…. I am cool baby; I take my time! One of my all-time favorites is the Le Hoyo Du Depute. This is a wonderful anytime “quickie” cigar. As a matter of fact, I just picked up a little cab from Rob and Lisa…. Mmmmm, can’t wait! Oh by the way Rob. If I am not mistaken the Du Gourmet is a Palmas, that is a 33 ring cigar! PS… I like those too. Lastly there are some really good thin little cigars like the Demi Tasse, the Cohiba Panetelas and Monte Joyitas. The last box of Monte Joyitas that I got from Rob were just dynamite!
genevapics Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 Nice info PigFish. I am a lover a large ring cigars. That said, I am always looking to expand my palate. Will need to talk to Rob and find out what is smoking well right now.
Fatshotbud Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 » Nice info PigFish. I am a lover a large ring cigars. That said, I am » always looking to expand my palate. Will need to talk to Rob and find out » what is smoking well right now. My smoking history in these ring sizes is minimal. Cohiba Lancero and Trinidad Fundadore is all that is in current inventory - looks like I may need to look for a sampler of these slim ones to expand my horizons ;-) Wonder where I might procure something like that .....:-P
raney Posted January 24, 2006 Posted January 24, 2006 » It's rare for me to smoke something over 42. Not big on that whole giving » a blow job to a donkey feeling I get from the fat cigars. not familiar with that feeling, and sincerely hope never to become familiar with it ;-) When I started smoking cigars, one of my complaints was the lack of thin RG cigars (from non-cuban manufacturers). When I finally discovered habanos, I was very pleased to see that there were a LOT of under-48 guage vitolas. I enjoy pyramides and robustos somewhat, but mostly I stick to Corona Gorda and thinner. I find that the 'conventional wisdom' that larger guage is required for complexity is completely contrary to my experience.
