H. Upmann #4

Hello all.

Need more information about the Upmann #4.

When were they discontinued? I am having trouble tracking these down..

A fellow BOTL seems to have tracked some down.. Just wondering what the concensus on this cigar was. I remember smoking one 4-5 yrs ago.. Well the other day I was gifted one and it brought back memories.. So I figured I would pic up more.

It was scheduled to be discontinued after 2002. That year quite a few were dropped.

Good smoke I like them. Grab a box if you can.

I was reading about these in MRNs book last night. The PC thread made me curious about these and the Upmann PC.

It's really depressing how many of the cigars he lists in the encyclopedia were discontinued between the 80's and 2002, such as the Upmann #1, 3, and 4.

Oh well, at least they're giving us plenty of expensive new ELs to buy.

I'm glad I'm not the only person that feels this way. I wish they would just skip the ELs and bring back some of the discontinued stock...Punch SS#2, Upmann Super Coronas, etc. I have just never bought into the Habanos SA marketing machine.

Of course, I guess it is working for them. I know people who clamor to grab up all of the ELs that they can. Some of them smoke almost nothing but. I just don't get it.:-|

I've never actually seen an Upmann No. 4 either. However, I would love to do a side-by-side comparison with a PC. Be interesting to note the differences and similarities. Only problem is...I can't find any of the fricken' No. 4s.

Recently discoverd some Super corona's..too bad they gave it the ax!!

Alex, I picked up a couple boxes of these last year from Switzerland. They have been inconsistant, from bland to pretty good, but none great. Some have been very tight on the draw. BC is LRL SEP01. I've heard other negative reports of HU4's with this box code, so be wary of them. As far as when they were disco'd, I think it was 02.
