Sonny Rollins RIP

Hard bop saxophone player/composer Sonny Rollins died in upstate New York on May 25, 2026, aged 95. He was an outstanding composer and improvisational musician.He'll be missed by all jazz enthusiasts. I'm going to listen to quite a few of his tracks over the next few days. RIP

So many great records, would highly recommend Saxophone Colossus and The Bridge for those unfamiliar with his work.

I was so sad to learn of this. He was the last living musician from Art Kane’s photo “A Great Day in Harlem.” What a talent!
