Last month, the United Kingdom approved its long-debated Tobacco and Vapes Bill, which will ban anyone born after 2008 from purchasing combustible tobacco products.

Now, another member of the Commonwealth is considering doing the same.

Earlier this week, Health Minister Marjorie Michel told reporters that she was “looking into it right now.”

The U.K.’s bill is part of a new type of tobacco control, known as a generational tobacco ban, because the law would ban anyone born after a certain date from ever being able to legally purchase tobacco products.

This was only a matter of time. The Canadian Government loves to adopt ideas from our Commonwealth, with the Australian plain packaging being a good example.
