Drew Estate Opening Farm and Factory in the Dominican Republic

April 17, 2026 - Patrick Lagreid

While its beginning was in New York, Drew Estate has long been associated with Nicaragua, as that’s where the company’s factory is, and the local culture has been reflected in the company’s artwork and occasionally, its cigars.

Now, Drew Estate is expanding its footprint, as the company has announced that it is has its own farm and is building its own 73,000-square-foot factory in the Dominican Republic, both under the banner of Drew Dominicana.

“Everything changes today,” said Jonathan Drew Sann, co-founder and president of Drew Estate, via a press release. “Nicaragua will forever be our homebase – but today, with us planting our official flag in the Dominican Republic – we are on to something very big, purposeful, and powerful. We are meeting a moment of evolution, head-on, and with open arms as we embrace a new season of learning and organizational growth. The Drew Estate culture, what we proudly call our Subculture, will now include a vibrant, additional layer of Dominican influence that will shine as bright as the sun itself. I’m so proud to know that my son, JD2 is going to have Santiago, Dominican Republic as his fourth native city: New York, Estelí, Wynwood, and now Santiago. Simply magical.”

The company says that Drew Dominicana will serve as a center for tobacco cultivation, cigar manufacturing, and immersive consumer experiences. The company has been using Dominican tobacco in several recent blends, including the Deadwood Tobacco Co. Dominicana and Dominicana Buenas Noches, as well as the Undercrown El Tigre Dominicano, the latter two of which are coming out this year. Eventually, all three lines will be made at Drew Dominicana; so far, the only cigars the company has announced will move production.
