Nohiba Posted March 27 Posted March 27 Hi all! Been an expat, and have grown up in Shanghai since 2002. I’ve smoked 99% Cubans for a good 10+ years now (ever since a friend introduced me to this wonderful world when interning at the Bvlgari Hotel London’s cigar lounge during hospitality school), and FOH has proved an invaluable resource every step of the way. I remember getting started in my mid 20s, where I would buy a box after each monthly pay check and would browse countless FOHtv YouTube vids of Rob and Ken’s Australian banter on the porch (outback animal sounds and all) to see which cigars sounded most appealing. Here I am more than a decade later lurking (having been a member since last August) through the FOH forums and still learning so much from the extremely knowledgeable people on here. Thank you all, and looking forward to posting more! 1
Dadof3 Posted April 2 Posted April 2 How is the food in Shanghai? As a US resident I've always been curious how much if anything of your home cooking is really avaiable here?

The restaurant scene in Shanghai is truly dynamic, any cuisine you can think of and done to a high level (reasonably priced too). Just this weekend I had an amazing Neapolitan margarita from apparently the 14th best place in the world (Bottega), a banging chicken saagawala (Indian) and a hearty Chao Shan style pork knuckle rice. Chinese food can be drastically different depending on region, and Shanghainese cuisine isn’t my favourite but there are a few dishes I do love. I was born and lived in Hong Kong as well so I will always have a soft spot for Cantonese cuisine, and sure enough you’ll find some great restaurants serving all the popular Cantonese staples here. 3
