What do we think of this? Will a New World cigar release with aged leaf make a difference to cigar enthusiasts in the same way that Habanos aged cigars do (notwithstanding some questionable Anejados program releases)? By the way, the article below states that the VSOP reference sources the aging term of VSOP cognacs from 2 to 10 years. In fact, VSOP cognac is aged a minimum of 4 years in the barrel (if not longer).

El Rey del Mundo King of the World VSOP Coming in April, with Four-Plus Years of Rest on It

March 18, 2026 - Patrick Lagreid

After more than four years of aging, a new version of STG’s El Rey del Mundo King of the World line is slated to come out in April.

It’s called the El Rey del Mundo King of the World VSOP, borrowing a term from the cognac world that stands for very superior old pale, and which references higher-quality cognacs between two and 10 years old. This new King of the World was rolled in 2021 and has been resting in the aging rooms of STG Estelí in Nicaragua ever since.
