Popular Post Petar Mladenov Posted March 16 Popular Post Posted March 16 Hi everyone, I’m 48 and I’ve been smoking cigars for about 25 years. Like many of you, over the years my humidors slowly kept getting bigger and bigger. At some point I started tracking everything in Excel — what cigars I have, how many are left, what I paid for them, which ones I liked, etc. But honestly…spreadsheets are terrible for this. No photos, no quick way to search, and no easy way to identify a cigar when you’re looking at a band and wondering what it was. Another problem I often had was with cigars that were gifted to me or that I picked up while traveling. Sometimes you end up with a cigar in the humidor and you don’t really remember the exact brand or model. So after fighting with Excel for years I decided to build something small for myself — basically a digital humidor. The idea was simple: • recognize a cigar band • identify the brand and model using AI • even help identify cigars you might not remember or that were gifted • keep track of what’s in the humidor • organize the collection visually instead of using spreadsheets It’s still a work in progress and I’m continuously adding more cigars to the database, but it already helps me manage my collection much better than my old Excel file. Long term I’d also love to expand this into a mobile app where you could: • scan cigars with your phone • find cigar lounges or places to smoke based on location • see verified cigar shops where people actually buy good cigars • maybe even track favorite cigars or reviews For now it’s just something I started building for myself, but I’m curious what other cigar smokers would find useful in something like this. If anyone here has ideas or features they would like to see in a digital humidor, I’d honestly love the feedback. Best regards, PM 5 1
Lucas Buck Posted March 16 Posted March 16 Welcome to FOH! Would love an app like this. Best of luck to you for this endeavor.
AshMe Nothing Posted March 17 Posted March 17 Welcome. I think adding the sweet spot for resting/aging to the application would be great. It’s somewhat subjective but you could use general time frames. 1
zacca Posted March 18 Posted March 18 I’m pretty competent with Excel so I never had any of the problems you faced. I can quickly search and I simply have data points for where things are stored, source, dates, gift or purchase, etc. Edit: I just realized that’s your first post. I’d suggest heading over to the Introduction forum before any soft prospecting.
David8406 Posted April 4 Posted April 4 I use an app on my phone for inventory. You can add a humidor and then start adding your boxes in. It’s pretty slick. The one thing I feel like it’s missing is a listing of humidor contents by shelf. Generally, I pull up the app first and pick what I want to smoke…but then I’ve got to find it and that is currently taking too long. 1
LordAnubis Posted April 4 Posted April 4 Not as automated as your vision. But after I went through the process of taking photos of every single box and uploading it it’s not too bad to maintain. I don’t track singles though cos yeah, nah fark that. 2
