feernot Posted March 6 Posted March 6 Hey everyone! New guy here, name is feernot. I’ve been smoking cigars since I turned 18 and could finally walk into my local tobacconist on my own. My first “real” cigar was an Arturo Fuente Hemingway Short Story. In the 2000s I fell in love with the original La Aroma de Cuba and smoked a lot of those. I was also a big McClelland pipe tobacco guy for years. Being relatively close to Kansas City, that brand felt extra special to me and I still miss it. Anyone with pipe tobacco experience knows and misses them, too!. These days I rarely smoke a pipe and almost always end up reaching for a cigar instead. In 2016 I was introduced to Cubans and bought my first cab of Juan Lopez No.1. I still have a few sticks left from that box that I’m slowly working through. I feel like the world of Habanos is still largely unexplored for me and I’d like to learn more. The more immediate reason I joined this forum is Fabrica5. Someone recently suggested their cigars to me as a way to scratch that Cuban itch. I’ve got several Fabrica5 cigars on order right now and I can’t wait to try them and see how they compare to the Cubans I’ve come to love. 1

Did you get the sampler? If nah, which ones did you get? 1

Not that they're bad after a few weeks or months, but I really enjoyed them right off the truck. A delightful little dessert confection with notes of chocolate buttercream, coffee and nougat. Sovereign Sun and Trinity Robusto are very Cuban-esque, they have that little twang going on, along with some beautiful nuttiness, chocolate and caramel. Both need a month or two of aging time especially the robusto. I rarely have time to smoke the larger sticks but when I do, the Churchill and the Fat Fundy are delectable. The Lonsdales and Lanceros are complex and delicious. My favorite is the Bond Roberts 109, those things are superb. Smoked it not long after a Monte #2 and it compared very favorably with some similarities. 1
