Igor8 Posted March 3 Posted March 3 Hey everyone — here from CA. I got into Cubans about a year ago after a buddy gave me an Upmann 56 and a Cohiba Robusto for my birthday… went down the rabbit hole from there. Since then I’ve been slowly exploring different marcas and building a small collection (a couple pictured below). Everything’s resting in an electric humidor while I try to figure out what really speaks to me. Happy to be here and learn from you guys. Any “must try” recommendations for someone who’s into Cohiba/Partagás/RyJ?
JohnS Posted March 3 Posted March 3 Welcome to FoH! I could easily recommend options within those three marcas, but my best advice is to acquire singles and keep gauging what you prefer in terms of your palate and what you do not. You'll then go from there. 3
NYGuido Posted March 3 Posted March 3 Welcome! If by CA you mean Canada, then I agree with John S, since you have access to singles. If you’re meaning California, I’m afraid your options are a bit more limited and you’re going to have to make friends and see what’s what. 2
Lucas Buck Posted March 3 Posted March 3 Holy cow I wish I had a collection like that when I first started smoking. The Maestra & Cupidos are my favorite newish Havanas from the past few years. Bravo and welcome to FOH! 1
Igor8 Posted March 3 Author Posted March 3 Thanks for the warm welcome, everyone — really appreciate it! Lucas, that’s great advice. I’ve been trying to pick up singles when I can to learn what really clicks with my palate. Still early in the journey, but I’m enjoying the process. I'm also glad to hear you rate the Maestra & Cupidos so highly — I’m especially looking forward to the Rito, and I’ve only had one Maduro 5 Genios before (loved it), so I couldn’t resist grabbing more. And yes, NYGuido — California, unfortunately. Makes things a bit trickier here compared to Canada, but I guess the hunt is part of the fun. Looking forward to learning from everyone here. 1
