Employee Caught Stealing $9,000 Worth of Cigars from Best Cigar Prices

January 15, 2026 - Charlie Minato

An employee of Best Cigar Prices was arraigned this week on charges that he stole cigars from the retailer, which is located in Drums, Pa.

Daniel T. Brennan, 61 of Scranton, was arraigned in Butler Township on charges of receiving stolen property and retail theft. Per police, the store caught Brennan on video concealing cigars in a travel humidor. An internal investigation revealed that Brennan stole 600 cigars, accessories and company apparel during July and August, totalling $9,000.

Per the Time Leader, Brennan was released on a $20,000 unsecured bail.

“We can confirm that a theft occurred at one of our retail locations,” said a representative for Best Cigar Prices. “After an internal review and in coordination with local law enforcement, an individual has been charged, and the matter is now in the legal process. Out of respect for that process, we won’t be commenting further, but we take situations like this very seriously and appreciate law enforcement’s work in addressing it.”

Best Cigar Prices is a large multi-channel retail business that includes an online store, catalog and Best Cigar Pub, a physical store, as well as a wholesale division.
